AUSTRALIAN EUROPEAN SYMPOSIUM – BORMIO ITALY 12-19th JAN 2014

The Australian European Symposium is a unique gathering undertaken each January at one of northern Italy’s most renown Alpine snow resorts, Bormio. The next experience is between 12 – 19th January 2014. It is an event where current medico / legal topics are presented daily by an ‘expert-in-the-field’ and subsequently discussed amongst fellow participants who provide unique and specific ‘professional’ feedback on the topic at hand – and all against a background of crisp, clean alpine air and snow. As well as activities to stimulate the mind, the Symposium provides a number of additional opportunities to explore and experience the best northern Italy can provide – snow-skiing, opera at ‘La Scala’, football at the famous ‘San Siro’ stadium, the alpine ‘red train’ to St Moritz and shopping in Milano to name but a few. Our theme is Dynamic Hypnotics – Hypnosis by the Sea. The Congress will commence with the Cocktail Reception in the evening Tuesday 21 September, where we will present Dr Wendy-Louise Walker with a lifetime award for her wonderful contribution to Clinical Hypnosis in Australia. You will meet old friends and make new ones, in a beautiful setting with excellent canapés and refreshments, assisted by our Congress Musical Director. There will be three days of speeches, workshops and scientific presentations. The Gala Dinner is on the final night, where you are invited to celebrate with fine food, wine and dancing. The Novotel Brighton Beach will be transformed into a meeting place for like-minded people, joining together in a time of up-to-the minute learning, discussion, socialising, dancing and relaxation. A beautiful hotel set majestically on Sydney’s historical Botany Bay. We have been especially fortunate to bring together Professor David Patterson of the University of Washington School of Medicine, USA, Dr Allan Cyna of the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Adelaide, and the University of Adelaide, South Australia and Professor Richard Bryant, Scientia Professor, University of New South Wales as our International and National Key Note speakers. This will ensure that our clinical hypnosis practitioners will be abreast of current thinking in our field. The scientific program promises to provide a hub for international and national students. It will be the first time that ASH will extend a warm welcome to our fellow health professionals to our Congress since the widening of our Membership in January this year.
